Campaign Values

Young Professionals

"How will we cater to the needs of young adults so that they decide to plant their roots in Worthington?"

Joycelyn will be a voice for young professionals deciding where they want to plant their roots.  Often, young adults are priced out of Worthington and wish there were more to do in Worthington. Joycelyn will change that. Advocating for the needs of young adults now will attract future families, entrepreneurs, and great neighbors.

Worthington's Economic Vitality

"How will we continue to support businesses with deep roots in Worthington while also attracting new businesses to plant roots and grow within our city?"

As the daughter of immigrant entrepreneurs, Joycelyn is invested in advancing Worthington’s economic development plan. Joycelyn will work to attract and retain businesses by promoting their needs tirelessly. Businesses play an important role in our community and it's vital that we invest in their growth so that Worthington can continue to flourish.

Aging Population

"How will we invest in services for our aging population so that they can thrive in the community they love?"

Worthington's aging population deserves to thrive in their community. Many struggle to afford housing and senior care in Worthington. Becoming a caregiver opened Joycelyn's eyes to the lack of advocacy for seniors and caregivers. As our elderly population rapidly grows, the city must proactively plan for their needs and the rising demand for senior services.

Hi! I'm Joycelyn.

Born and raised in Worthington by immigrant small business owners, Joycelyn graduated from Worthington Public Schools in 2015 and Northwestern University in 2019. During her undergraduate studies in biomedical engineering, she discovered a passion for building a career centered on empathy and advocacy.

After graduating from Northwestern, Joycelyn remained in Chicago to begin her career at a consulting firm specializing in financial services. There, she learned to blend human-centered design with business strategy to drive efficiency and improve outcomes. She now works at Silicon Valley Bank as a Senior User Researcher and Design Strategist, where she identifies opportunities for improvement, aligns siloed stakeholders, and transforms visions into actionable long-term strategies—all with the goal of enhancing the experience for both clients and bankers.

Joycelyn returned to Worthington to care for her aging family members—her 92-year-old father and her 88-year-old uncle. At 25, she became the primary caregiver for her uncle, who is living with dementia. These personal experiences have given her deep insight into the needs of our aging population and have inspired her ongoing advocacy on their behalf.

Outside of work and caregiving, you’ll find Joycelyn rock climbing at Vertical Adventures, biking along the Olentangy Trail, or hunting down the next best hole in the wall restaurant.
